Christmas Village returns to LOVE Park with extended hours and more    | Philadelphia Parks & Recreation


LOVE Park and City Hall’s courtyard will once again transform into an open air German Christmas market. Christmas Village opens for its 16th season after the Thanksgiving Parade on November 23, 2023. The market is one of the largest and most authentic German Christmas markets in the United States.  A special preview weekend will be held on Saturday, November 18 and Sunday, November 19, 2023. 

Attendees will enjoy the holiday sights and sounds. Admission to the event is free. Shopping, food, and drink are pay-as-you-go.   

New this year: 

  • Extended hours through 8 p.m. Sunday to Thursday, and through 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.  
  • European market lights.
  • Vegan Wurst Wednesdays.

Christmas Village has become a must-do tradition for many families. It features over 120 local and international vendors and artists. Visitors are sure to find the perfect gift for everyone on their list.

Other highlights include: 

  • The original Christkind from Nuremberg, Germany. She will return on Sunday, November 26, 2023, to open the market.  
  • Family Day on December 10, 2023–attendees can take a picture of mascot Phil the Reindeer and his friends.  
  • German American Weekend is on December 11 and 12, 2023. It features German dance bands schuhplattling, beer steinholding, and bratwurst-eating competitions.    

Visitors can also check out 40 more vendors at Made in Philadelphia Market at Dilworth Park. Together, shoppers this season will have more than 160 reasons to skip the mall. Christmas Village has something for everyone including:

  • Ornaments and other holiday decorations. 
  • Toys. 
  • Apparel and jewelry. 
  • Home goods, artwork, and much more.
