Imperial College is among four B-schools to announce new degree programs on November 13
Early holiday gifts arrived across Europe for prospective business school students November 13, when four top B-schools announced three new degree programs that will launch in 2024.
Imperial College Business School in London announced the September 2024 launch of a new Master of Science in Global Health Management, a redesign of its MSc International Health Management “with changes made to meet the needs of a rapidly evolving global healthcare ecosystem and to cater to future global health leaders.” Also in September 2024, ESCP Business School, with campuses in Paris, Berlin, London, Madrid, Turin, and Warsaw, will launch its Master of Science in Luxury Management, a program based in both France and Italy that “caters to students aspiring to forge a career in the dynamic luxury sector.”
And two schools, POLIMI Graduate School of Management in Milan and EDHEC Business School, which has campuses in France, the UK, and Singapore, are partnering to offer a new double-degree program dedicated to management and sustainability. Students who participate in the schools’ exchange program will have the opportunity to receive a double degree from both schools, the pair announced.
A NEW HEALTH MANAGEMENT DEGREE FOR A RAPIDLY EVOLVING SECTOR

Imperial College’s new MSc in Global Health Management confronts the “complex and fast-changing world of global healthcare” in aiming to give graduates the skills they need to adapt and thrive. Broadening beyond healthcare, the degree will encompass global health challenges, leadership, sustainability, “and other complex factors that impact upon health.”
The overhaul of the International Health Management program is a byproduct of Imperial’s shifting priorities following the coronavirus pandemic and will include interdisciplinary elements and collaborations with its School of Public Health and the Dyson School of Design Engineering. Students in the new program will have the option to study three new concentrations: Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Management, or Economics & Data Science.
“The healthcare sector has experienced vast changes over the last few years — whether it be the impact of the Covid pandemic, the knock-on effects that the associated economic crisis had on health, or the opportunities that rapidly developing technologies enable for how we look after those in need,” says Marisa Miraldo, professor and program director for the Global Health Management master’s program. “The program encompasses training for the next generation of professionals to address these global health challenges, with a broader focus on managing and preventing health issues that affect populations globally.”
IN FRANCE & ITALY, A NEW LUXURY DEGREE
Another sector roiled by constant change, albeit of a decidedly different kind, is the luxury industry. ESCP’s new MSc in Luxury Management will span France and Italy, hosting students at its Paris and Turin campuses as they learn both foundational courses in luxury business management — emphasizing, the B-school stresses, “the need for sustainable business practices” — while also having the opportunity to study specialized areas such as retailing, innovation, finance, human resources, marketing and sales, supply chain, art thinking, and business law.
It’s a “holistic approach” that aims to produce agile graduates who can navigate an industry in a constant state of change “driven by digital market trends, globalization, and shifting consumer needs,” the school says in its announcement. The program includes an internship, and the curriculum includes “interactive lectures, teamwork, exposure to industry practices, an international consulting project, and in-person presentations.”
“Companies across all levels of the luxury spectrum are actively seeking skilled professionals with a combination of robust managerial expertise, up-to-date industry knowledge, and a flair for innovative thinking to support their continued growth,” says Isabella Maggioni, associate professor of marketing and academic director of the new program.
CURRENT & FORMER STUDENTS CAN JOIN NEW DOUBLE-DEGREE PROGRAM
Another new alliance between the French and Italians became public November 13 when POLIMI Graduate School of Management in Italy and EDHEC Business School in France announced they are now offering to attach a second degree for students and alumni of a pair of current programs. Students from the two business schools who are attending the International Master in Business Analytics and Big Data at POLIMI Graduate School of Management and the Grand Ecole Master in Management at EDHEC Business School will now be able to earn an additional degree: the Master of Science in Management and Leadership academic degree of EDHEC and the International Master in Environmental Sustainability & Circular Economy awarded by Politecnico di Milano, where POLIMI is housed.
The double-degree program will be offered to students or alumni graduated in the past two years from POLIMI and to current graduate students from EDHEC.
“This is an exciting new chapter for both schools, as this double degree further signifies the strong collaboration that exists between POLIMI Graduate School of Management and EDHEC Business School, which in turn allows students and graduates from both institutions to benefit from our joint resources and expertise,” says Tommaso Agasisti, POLIMI’s associate dean for internationalization and quality. “Driving positive change is at the core of both of our schools, and by joining forces with EDHEC Business School, we become stronger in this ambition. We are proud of this initiative and believe that it inspires our students to ignite sustainable transformation and to contribute to a better society through innovation.”
Adds Richard Perrin, associate dean for international relations at EDHEC: “According to the European Environment Agency, industrial processes and product usage are responsible for 9 % of greenhouse gas emissions in the EU, while waste management accounts for 3 %. Creating more efficient and sustainable products from the outset would help reduce energy and resource consumption, as it is estimated that over 80% of a product’s environmental impact is determined during its design phase.
