Felix Andrés is a Latino makeup artist, content creator and singer in Seattle.
Seattle Refined: What mediums do you work with? How long have you been creating?
Felix Andrés: I’ve been in love with makeup ever since I could remember. Growing up, I always wanted to give my mamá and primas makeovers. However, I like to say the first time I created was amidst the quarantine, in 2020. I am creative by heart and tend to dive into all my ideas one way or another. Some mediums I’ve put my focus on are content creation, makeup artistry, singing and photography!
Can you tell us about your artistic process and how the different stages work into it?
Prior to creating, it is essential to set the mood. I find a playlist that I feel drawn towards and press play as I set up my kit. When I create on myself, I love to go blind in the process. I’m a visionary, so whatever comes to mind while creating I’ll execute accordingly. However, when creating on others, I love to start with the brows, followed by eyeshadow & lashes, then base and last but not least the lip. This process helps as I am slowly starting from top to bottom.
Tell us about where your inspiration for your art comes from.
The inspiration behind most of my looks and creations is mixed. My Chicano culture and editorial obsession intertwine. I love to embody both my masculine and feminine energy. So when I create, I tend to gravitate towards more darker shades.
Do you have a specific “look” you like best?
Yes, the “Glam Galore” service I provide on my booking page (chic4cheek.com) is an all-time favorite of mine. It allows me to dive deep into my creativity!
What experiences in your life have affected your art the most?
Growing up, I was bullied all throughout elementary and middle school. It was so bad that I had moved to 11 different schools. However, in high school, I promised myself that I would do everything I set my mind to without the fear of what others said. Makeup to me isn’t just about the glam, it has helped heal little Felix, and I am beyond grateful.
If we want to see more of your work, where should we go to find it?
