Rochester to invest in local arts. Here’s how artists can apply.

The City of Rochester and Monroe County are inviting artists from underrepresented and underserved communities to join an Artist Engagement Team.

The city wants to invest in the local creative ecosystem, and the artist engagement team will develop and implement strategies to contribute to these objectives.

“Those facing challenges in accessing community arts participation opportunities can help us remove those barriers,” Mayor Malik Evans said in a statement released Wednesday. “We’re searching for artists to help develop innovative outreach methods for creative people and arts supporters in Rochester with limited access to information about available and upcoming arts programs and initiatives.”

Utilizing a $20,000 grant from the Rochester Area Community Foundation and the city’s percent for the arts program, the city will recruit three to four artists to collaborate with the project team to create an outreach plan and implement targeted community engagement tactics.
