The Palestine Festival of Literature collaborated with TV and movie stars in a compelling video series that sheds light on South Africa’s charges against Israel at the International Court of Justice.
29 prominent artists came together to read the facts outlined in South Africa’s case.
The first video, released on Friday, features participants from nine countries across the entertainment industry.
The artists include Adam Bakri, known for his role in the Oscar-nominated film “Omar,” along with other renowned names such as Liam Cunningham, Charles Dance, and Lena Headey from the acclaimed TV series “Game of Thrones.” The star-studded lineup also features Tobias Menzies and Khalid Abdalla from Netflix’s “The Crown,” along with Jewish actor Wallace Shawn of “The Princess Bride,” among others.
Notable activists Susan Sarandon and Cynthia Nixon contribute to this impactful project. Nixon, known for “Sex and the City,” recently engaged in a hunger strike outside the White House in solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza.
The videos are uploaded on The Palestine Festival of Literature’s YouTube channel, where the first video delves into “Genocidal Acts Committed Against the Palestinian People,” while the second video discusses “Causing Serious Bodily & Mental Harm to Palestinians in Gaza.”
On Thursday, the International Court of Justice (ICJ), based in The Hague, commenced the landmark case brought forth by South Africa against Israel for its actions in Gaza. Pretoria alleges that Israel has violated the 1948 Genocide Convention and is accusing the country of committing the crime of genocide.
