CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Local artist, Ruth McKinney, celebrated her 95th birthday with family and friends at Brookdale Trinity Towers.
Pictures of her paintings spotlighted some of her special work and filled the room of her birthday party. McKinney has her own art room at Trinity Towers separate from her room.
While McKinney always carried within her the nature of an artist, she was able to fully dedicate her time after retiring from being a teacher.
“I started painting the year I retired from teaching and I’ve been at it ever since, never commercially just for family,” McKinney said. “These paintings belong to my children and grandchildren and my great-grandchildren.”
Not all of her pieces were sold, instead they will be cherished and kept by her own family.
McKinney says family is what it is all about and they encourage her every step of the way.
