A show of works by ceramics artist Agueda Zabisky, a Creative Pinellas Emerging Artist Grant winner, opens with a 6-9 p.m. reception Friday at the Brenda McMahon Gallery, during Gulfport’s monthly First Friday Art Walk.
Jazz musician Henry Ashwood will perform during the reception for Zabisky, a native of Brazil who arrived in Pinellas County in 2020. Find gallery info here.
Friday’s Art Walk, from 5 to 9 p.m., features dozens of local artists showing and selling their creations; there’s live music, too, and a generally festive atmosphere.

More than 30 artists will take part in The Rite of Spring, March’s show at The Werk Gallery, 2210 1st Ave. South. It opens with a 5-9 p.m. reception Friday. Find gallery info here.
Friday at The Study Wine & Beer Lounge: An opening reception for the art show We R. It runs from 7-10 p.m. at 3100 3rd Avenue N. Poetry reading by Maureen McDole at 8 p.m.
Saturday delivers the monthly Color Theory art show at Bar@548. A reception for the more than 30 local artists begins at 7 p.m. – with beats by DJ Jadget Gam – and a meet ‘n’ greet. Artists retain 100 percent of any art sales. It’s at 548 Central, and the creatives include – among others – Antoine McDowell AKA Sleep, Brandy B. Stark, Robert Painter, Meghan Naumburg, Amber Sparkle, Matt Christiansen, Christine Schorr, Trevor Griffin and Jenipher Chandley.
The 54th Annual Gasparilla Festival of the Arts is a go for Saturday and Sunday at Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park, Tampa. Organizers expect around 30,000 visitors to the free, juried art event. There are more than 250 visual artists, a “Young Artist Expo,” food and bev and continuous live music. There’s nearly $100,000 in artist prize money. Hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. Website.

Down the road
Popping up again: Chad Mize has curated OUTSIDEr Art Show, 6-10 p.m. Thursday, March 7 at Green Bench Brewing, with the work of 18 local artists including Bask, Jujmo, Kate Cummins, Luke Heath, Wayward Walls and R2 Romero.
Woodfield Fine Art Gallery, 2323 Central Ave., will debut True Colors, an exhibition by conceptual pop painter Mark Mitchell, March 8. Things kick off with a 5 to 9 p.m. reception.
Opening March 5 at St. Pete Artworks: The Art of Lettering and Other Paintings by James Lee Hartzell, works by the St. Pete muralist, calligrapher and sign-painter. A reception, March 9 from 5 to 9 p.m., will coincide with the St. Petersburg Arts Alliance’s monthly Second Saturday ArtWalk.
Strength of Character, an “environment” consisting of large-scale paintings by Edgar Sanchez Cumbas, sculptural wood pieces by Kathleen & David Bly (Jib Projects) and site-specific installation and assembled objects by Kendra Frorup, opens March 14 with a reception at the Creative Pinellas Gallery on Walsingham Road.
Coming March 16 and 17 is the Historic Kenwood 2024 Artist Studio Tour, a self-guided trip through the exhibits of 30 artists at 19 different stops. There’s detailed information, as well as a tour map, on the website.
