Associated Artists of Pittsburgh presents Featured Artists Exhibition

Ulric Joseph’s “A Hero’s Journey” is among the works at AAP’s upcoming Featured Artists Exhibit.

From March 9 through May 17, Associated Artists of Pittsburgh will host its Featured Artists Exhibition, the annual culmination of the monthly featured artists series.

The exhibition showcases the work of twelve artists: Lauren Braun, Nancy McNary Smith, Sandra Bacchi, Cheryl Capezzuti, Ulric Joseph, Ben Schonberger, Ling-lin Ku, Jessica Alpern Brown, Lisa Bergant Koi, Paul Roden, Molly Davis, and La Vispera.

“Our fifth Featured Artists Exhibition brings together incredible diversity in creative methods — painting, photography, ceramics, alongside several other unexpected mediums including rubber and dryer lint,” said Curator Dawn Henry. “You notice small ways these artists’ works speak to each other while still being completely unique in material. I hope that, as the audience spends time with the work, they make these connections.”

The exhibition is the yearly conclusion of the organization’s monthly featured artist program, which launched in March 2019. Each artist is nominated and voted on by the Associated Artists’ Exhibition Committee after a review of the artwork submitted to recent exhibition calls and online programs. Associated Artists then features the selected artist and their artwork each month across social media, emails, and the organization’s website.

“Every month, we get to dive a bit deeper into the work of one artist,” said AAP Executive Director Madeline Gent. “This exhibition then gives us a chance to see their work in person. It truly shows the artistic depth and breadth of Pittsburgh, and we are really only scratching the surface of that creative community.”

An opening reception for the exhibition will be held on Saturday, March 9 from 4 to 7 p.m., with additional programming to follow. The Gallery is open Wednesdays-Fridays, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and select Saturdays.
