Calling all art teachers.

Looking for a great way to acknowledge the amazing work being done by your students?

The Anton Art Center will be hosting its Biennial Primary Student Show presented by Extra Credit Union April 27 through June 1 and organizers are encouraging teachers to submit original artwork for the show.

The show and competition for students in kindergarten through sixth-grade provides young artists with a unique opportunity to show their work in a professional art gallery while competing for several awards and prizes including over $525 in professional-grade art, gift certificates and other items from the Detroit Institute of Arts.

“Witnessing the creative freedom of young minds in this art show is truly inspiring,” said Stephanie Hazzard, exhibition manager of the Anton Art Center in a news release “These young students share their imagination and bring a refreshing perspective to the world of art, reminding us all that creativity knows no age requirement.”

Awards categories will include:

• Best of Grade Awards: Professional-grade art supplies gift certificates and additional arts gifts from the Detroit Institute of Arts presented to three outstanding works in each grade level for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

• Merit Ribbons: Presented to selected outstanding work in each grade level.

Art Achievement Certificates: For each exhibiting student artist.
