Baki Hanma VS Kengan Ashura Reveals New Key Visual, Trailer & Theme Song Artists


A new key visual and trailer have been released for the upcoming Baki Hanma VS Kengan Ashura crossover anime film, which will premiere on Netflix on June 6, 2024. 

The 2-minute trailer previews the many exciting fights that will be featured in the film, as well as the main opening theme “Fly High” by J-pop group ATARASHII GAKKO! Meanwhile, the ending theme is “Don’t Stay” by Japanese hip-hop dance and vocal group Lead

The visual and trailer also teases the three main battles that will be featured in the film, which include Saw Paing Yoroizuka versus Kaoru Hanayama, Raian Kure versus Jack Hammer, and Baki Hanma versus Ohma Tokita. 

Nobunaga Shimazaki and Tatsuhisa Suzuki are reprising their main roles as Baki Hanma and Ohma Tokita, respectively.

Both Baki Hanma and Kengan Ashura have inspired two seasons on Netflix, with the second part of Kengan Ashura Season 2 set for release in August 2024. The first 24-episode season of Kengan Ashura premiered on Netflix in 2019, while the first part of the second season debuted in 2023. 

The first two seasons of Netflix’s new Baki anime series premiered in 2018 and 2021, respectively. An adaptation of Baki-Dou was announced last month. 

Kengan Ashura is based on the manga series, written by Yabako Sandrovich and illustrated by Daromeon. It was published in Shogakukan’s digital magazine Ura Sunday and MangaONE app from April 18, 2012 to August 9, 2018. Twenty-seven tankobon volumes were published during its publication. A sequel series titled Kengan Omega was launched on the same platforms on January 17, 2019. Nineteen tankobon volumes have been released as of October 2023. 

Baki Hanma is based on Keisuke Itagaki’s long-running fighting manga series, which has run in Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shonen Champion for multiple installments since October 1991. Six main Baki manga series and various spin-offs have been published. The first main entry was 1999’s Baki the Grappler, while the latest entry, Baki-dou, began serialization in Weekly Shonen Champion on March 8, 2019.

The manga has also inspired two OVAs in 1994 and 2016. It also received its first anime adaptation that lasted for 48 episodes from January 8, 2001 to December 24, 2001.

The “Baki” manga series, published in Akita Shoten’s “Weekly Shonen Champion,” is a mega-hit martial arts manga that has sold over 85 million copies. Baki tells the stories of various fighters, centered on the epic life-and-death clash between protagonist Baki Hanma, the youngest underground fighting champion, and his father Yujiro Hanma, the “strongest creature in the world.”

The massive hit manga “KENGAN ASHURA” remains steadfast as the most popular comic among readers of the comics website Ura Sunday and the comics app MangaONE. Humble office worker Kazuo Yamashita encounters mysterious martial artist Ohma Tokita and gets wrapped up in the “Kengan” matches, in which corporations settle business disputes by betting large sums on seasoned fighters.

These two martial arts manga masterpieces finally cross paths! An unbelievable collaboration between the anime series “Baki Hanma” and “KENGAN ASHURA,” both of which are now streaming only on Netflix, is brought to life in anime!
