The Bluebird Performance Venue in Rowley is scheduled to host a Saturday, May 18, show that will start with poetry and swing into jazz before ending with a contemporary country singer.

The night will open with poet Lee Moss with singer/keyboardist Mark Muzeroll, followed by jazz veteran and baritone saxophone player Danny Harrington with guitarist John Baboian – both affiliated with the Berklee College of Music in Boston.

Country singer, songwriter Sammy Woodbrey, accompanied by Scott Ouellette on guitar and Tom Lynch on drums are scheduled to close out the night, organizers said.

Harrington, a Providence, Rhode Island, native who now lives Newburyport, has been a Berklee professor since 1978. He is a member of the college’s Harmony department, which teaches the theory of American popular music from the early 20th century to the present, according to his online profile.

Before joining the faculty at Berklee College, Harrington toured with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra under the direction of Buddy Morrow. He has performed with Nick Brignola, Gary Burton, Herb Pomeroy, Gary Smulyan, Joe Lovano, George Garzone as well as leading his own group since 1980.

Baboian has been on the Berklee faculty member since 1980. He’s best known for his work in the jazz and swing, but has performed classical, blues, rock, R&B, Latin and World music.

Baboian’s performances include concerts, clubs, recordings, radio and television throughout the United States and Canada, as well as performances and teaching clinics in Japan, Central & South Americas, Europe, South Africa, and the former Soviet Union including his ancestral home, Armenia, his online profile indicated.
