Canastota library hosts Graziano, King as August artists of the month – Oneida Dispatch

CANASTOTA, N.Y. — Each month, the Canastota Public Library, 102 W. Center St., partners with local artists to display selected pieces of artwork. For the month of August, summer local artists Valerie Graziano will present her watercolor paintings and Peter King will display his photography.

Graziano is a lifetime Canastota resident who is very active in the community. She previously owned and operated Graziano’s Casa Mia Restaurant and Inn along with her father, Tony. She also taught at both the high school and college level, retiring from her position at Pratt-Munson Art Institute in Utica.

She is a watercolor artist who describes her paintings as impressionistic scenes based on real places and nature, but with her own unique touch. Her pieces have been a part of several Florida art shows where she resides with her husband, Peter King, for part of the year.

King is an Edward R. Murrow Award winning correspondent for CBS News Radio, working from both here in Canastota and in Orlando, Florida. He previously worked in Central New York with more than a decade of work at Ithaca and Syracuse radio stations.

He loves photography and enjoys finding unusual angles for his subjects, whether they be people, animals or things. This particular show includes scenes from the St. Lawrence River and the Adirondacks.

The art display will be available for public viewing from Aug. 1-31. There will also be an artists’ reception on Thursday, August 15 from 6- 7:15pm in the Lawson Room. This is a time to meet the artists and celebrate
their work.

The public is welcome to view Valerie’s and Peter’s art during regular library hours and to attend the reception.

The display will be housed in the Lawson Room, located on the basement floor of the Canastota Public Library. The Lawson Room is accessible through the elevator or stairs at the parking lot entrance.
