450 new jobs, $810M investment coming to Florence, SC


FLORENCE, S.C. — A state-of-the-art electric vehicle battery manufacturer AESC has announced the company will be investing $850 million to expand operations in Florence County. 

The expansion comes as the company enters a multi-year partnership with BMW and is expected to create 450 new jobs in the Florence area.   

AESC will be producing battery cells for the next generation of EV models produced at BMW’s plant in Spartanburg.

The existing site in the more than 1,000-acre Florence Global Technology and Commerce Park  will expand to increase production capabilities.

This latest expansion is expected to be completed by 2026, bringing the total investment to $1.62 billion and 1,620 new jobs in Florence.
