US Announces Historic $100 Billion Investment by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company


This is the largest foreign direct investment in U.S. history

President Trump highlighted the economic impact of the investment, stating,” This $100 billion in new investment will go into building five state-of-the-art fabrication facilities in Arizona, creating thousands of high-paying jobs. With today’s announcement, Taiwan Semiconductor’s total investment reaches approximately $165 billion.”

WASHINGTON D.C. – In a groundbreaking move, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has announced a record-setting $100 billion investment in its semiconductor manufacturing operations in Arizona.

The initiative, the largest foreign direct investment in U.S. history, was unveiled by TSMC CEO C.C. Wei alongside President Donald J. Trump.

A Boost for American Manufacturing

President Trump highlighted the economic impact of the investment, stating,” This $100 billion in new investment will go into building five state-of-the-art fabrication facilities in Arizona, creating thousands of high-paying jobs. With today’s announcement, Taiwan Semiconductor’s total investment reaches approximately $165 billion.”

“This initiative will generate thousands of high-paying jobs and significantly advance AI and smartphone chip production. We are grateful for President Trump’s continued support,” said TSMC CEO C.C. Wei.

Strengthening U.S. Semiconductor Leadership

Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick praised the initiative, underscoring its alignment with efforts to bolster domestic semiconductor production:

“President Trump has prioritized bringing semiconductor manufacturing back to the United States. This investment from TSMC, the world’s leading chip manufacturer, is a testament to the strength of his economic policies.”

Since taking office, President Trump has helped secure nearly $2 trillion in U.S.-based investments, reinforcing America’s leadership in advanced technology and manufacturing.

With this latest announcement, the momentum for domestic semiconductor production continues to grow.
