Heading into its 51st year, Art Festival Beth-El, Temple Beth-El’s annual fine art exhibition and sale, will showcase 170 national and international artists Jan. 27-29.
The festival’s six galleries, scattered throughout temple’s campus, will feature original paintings, wood, sculpture, ceramics, glass, photography, mixed media and jewelry plus a large outdoor sculpture garden and a boutique with art and crafts at moderate prices.
A yearly tradition will also continue to showcase works by talented artists from Pinellas County’s 17 public and private high schools. The Art Festival will award scholarship money to the schools of the winning students.
This year’s judge, Sara Felice, will award over $8,000 in prize money to participating artists. Felice is the curator of art at the Leepa Ratner Museum of Art in Tarpon Springs.
The festival is free and open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday and Monday, Jan. 28-29. The temple is located at 400 Pasadena Ave. S. in St. Petersburg.
The event will kick off Saturday, Jan. 27 from 1-4 p.m. with a Purchase Award Patron’s Reception, offering a preview of the artworks for Patrons and Friends of the Artists. That evening from 6-10 p.m. there will be an Opening Cocktail Reception, catered by the temple’s Boys in the Hood men’s group. It is free for Purchase Award Patrons, Friends of Artists and Benefactors, $50 for others.
