At the prestigious 66th Grammy Awards, set to be held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles (LA), USA, on February 4th (local time), no K-pop artist has been nominated this year.
Leading the nominations for this year’s Grammy Awards is SZA, who has been nominated in nine categories, including ‘Album of the Year’ and ‘Record of the Year’. Other notable nominees include Victoria Monet, Jon Batiste, boygenius, Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, and Taylor Swift, who are all set to capture the global music audience’s attention.
However, the absence of K-pop artists, including BTS, from the list of nominees for the 2024 Grammy Awards has been a disappointment to global listeners. BTS, in particular, has been nominated for the ‘Best Pop Duo/Group Performance’ category for three consecutive years, starting three years ago, but has yet to secure a win. The fact that they, along with other K-pop artists, failed to make it to the nomination list this year has heightened the sense of regret among their international fanbase.
Especially since BTS has won trophies at the other two major American music award ceremonies, the ‘Billboard Music Awards‘ and the ‘American Music Awards‘, their absence from the Grammy nominations feels particularly disappointing.
