ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) — Artists are invited to submit their ideas for a mural to honor Allen County’s 200 bicentennial celebration.
The Allen County Bicentennial Executive Board is searching for 15 artists or teams to create murals on fiberglass sculptures to honor Allen County’s history in celebration of the 200 years of Allen County.
The executive board is asking artists to represent how they see the Allen County community in a mural design to show alongside stories that highlight community assets, tell Allen County’s story, educate visitors, and celebrate Allen County.
After being painted in late summer and early fall of this year, murals will be displayed in Harlan, Hoagland, Zanesville, Monroeville, Leo-Cedarville, Huntertown, Grabill, Woodburn, New Haven, and Fort Wayne.
Leaders of the ‘I’ Am Allen sculpture project include the Allen County’s Bicentennial Executive Board, Allen County Board of Commissioners, Visit Fort Wayne, Greater Fort Wayne Inc., Fort Wayne Community Foundation, and NewAllen Alliance with strong support and collaboration from Alexandra Hall with A H Public Spaces Consulting, LLC.
Lindsey Sharp, Vice President of NewAllen Alliance, shares, “This project has the unique opportunity to highlight the individual identities of the communities throughout Allen County while bringing us all together to celebrate all we can accomplish together. The NewAllen Alliance is honored to be part of this impactful, inclusive project.”
You can find the artist application on the Allen County’s website. The deadline for artists to apply is May 31, 2024.
