Armenian Artists Embark on Prestigious Creative Residency in Brussels • MassisPost

YEREVAN — Creative Armenia and the Boghossian Foundation are excited to announce the names of three artists from Armenia to become 2024 East-West Residents and travel to Brussels, Belgium for a creative residency. They are writer Ani Asatryan, screenwriter Artavazd Yeghiazaryan, and visual artist Khoren Matevosyan.

This summer and autumn, the artists will spend a month at the iconic Villa Empain in Brussels, Belgium, working on their creative projects, collaborating with European artists, and exploring Belgium’s dynamic cultural scene. As some of Armenia’s strongest talents, the selected artists are ready to share the exciting developments of the contemporary Armenian art scene with the world and make significant contributions to the local creative sector upon their return.

“Creative Armenia is proud to support these 3 talented Armenian artists as they make their way to the Villa Empain,” said Garin Hovannisian, founding director of Creative Armenia. “We look forward to the new creations and collaborations this experience will bring.”

Upon completing the program, the three artists will join the impressive alumni of the East-West Residency program, including notable artists such as visual artist Narek Barseghyan, comics artist Shamiram Khachatryan, and photographer Vahan Stepanyan. Currently in its sixth year, the program has already enabled 11 artists to pursue extraordinary creative projects and has become one of the most sought-after opportunities for artists from Armenia.

“We are thrilled to welcome leading Armenian artists at the Boghossian Foundation’s residency, where international encounters meet inspiration and contemporary creation. The precious partnership with Creative Armenia strengthens every year our link with Armenia and its vibrant art scene. We strongly believe that Art is the key to facilitate dialogues between cultures and to bring some hope to tragic news nowadays,” said Louma Salamé, General Director of the Boghossian Foundation.

The East-West Residency is a program of Creative Armenia and the Boghossian Foundation that entered into a partnership in 2018. Creative Armenia is a global arts foundation for the Armenian people that discovers, develops, and champions innovative talents across the arts. The Boghossian Foundation was created in 1992 by Robert Boghossian and his two sons, Jean and Albert, jewelers of Armenian origin, with the primary objective of contributing to development and education.
