Art Society of Jackson County now accepting applications for artist grant | Lifestyle


The Art Society of Jackson County is offering their first annual grant to local artists in the amount of $500. Any visual artist that resides in Jackson County is eligible to apply. Application will be open through June 1, 2024. The Art Society will announce the winner of the grant on Sept. 1, 2024. 

To apply applicants are required to be 18 years of age or older and provide proof of residency in Jackson County for the past two years, Applicants must provide three examples of their work in the form of digital images and fill out the application completely. Applications are available online at artsocietyofjc.com/2024-artist-grant

Judges will be announced at a later date. During the selection process, judges will consider originality, creativity, commitment to advancing in art professionally and the intended use of grant funds. 

Winners must agree to be photographed with images shares on social media, newspaper articles and other forms of publication. Winners must also agree to participate in one of the Art Society’s shows within the year of being awarded the grant. 

The mission of the Art Society of Jackson County is to promote and support visual artists within our community. By hosting local events featuring local artists and sponsoring an annual grant program, they strive to encourage the arts in Jackson County.

We hope to expand our support in the years to come. As we grow and evolve as an organization, our goal is to increase the funds available for grants, enabling us to offer even greater support to a broader spectrum of artists within our community.”

To become a member of the Art Society of Jackson County, visit artsocietyofjc.com/become-a-participating-artist. Members must reside in Jackson County and pay a $25 yearly fee. All proceeds from fees go toward supporting local artists as well as group expenses and showcase needs. Member benefits include setting up at events at no extra cost, opportunities to be involved in community art projects, promotion on the Art Society of Jackson County Facebook page, plus bios links and photos on their website.
