RAYMOND (WGME) – Crystal Tidwell, a local artist from Raymond, has designed a unique way to commemorate the memory of those who lost their lives in the Lewiston mass shooting. Her customized holiday ornaments are a thoughtful way to pay tribute to each of the victims.
Tidwell, who works from her home studio, uses her computer to design the file and engrave the wood for each ornament. She then handcrafts the final product with precision and care.
The ornaments are designed to honor and remember each victim of the tragic event. Tidwell has created a special ornament for each family that has lost a loved one that night. The wooden ornaments bear the name of each victim and are customized for each family. For those who wish to show their support, they can purchase an ornament with every single victim’s name etched in.
The proceeds from the sale of her ornaments go directly to those affected by the shooting. Tidwell has also crafted tumblers and earrings with “Lewiston Strong” at the center of each piece.
The ornaments are not just for the holiday season, they can be left up all year-round, as a way of remembering those who are no longer with us.
Victims’ families have expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support from the community. Tidwell has sold over 600 ornaments to date and has donated more than $6,000 to the victim’s family GoFundMe.
