Artist Kris Leipprandt creating series of murals in Caseville

Artist Kris Leipprandt is working to bring more beach vibes to downtown Caseville with a series of murals on businesses.

The murals are funded by the Caseville Downtown Development Authority Facade Grant, which provides money for visual improvements for downtown buildings and businesses.

“I think it’s important to bring a fresh new look to the downtown,” Leipprandt said. “I want to celebrate and enhance the vibe that Caseville has.”

Her first mural is on the building that is home to her art studio, which she had completed but has since expanded. She is currently working on Dufty’s Blue Water Inn, where she will create murals on three walls in the restaurant. She will then paint a mural on Walt’s Restaurant and on the bathhouse at Mariner’s Cove Marina.

Leipprandt said the opportunity is “amazing” because it allows more people to see her work and brings joy to the community.

“There is a lot of joy (in giving) people a chance to see my work,” she said. “I want people to feel and relate to the beach and family-friendly vibes and think of the good times spent here when they see my work.”

Leipprandt is finishing up the first phase on the face of Dufty’s Blue Water Inn. She will then move to the second-floor exterior wall for a piece and then the back wall for the final part.

Walt’s Restaurant just a block down the road will get a large mural on the side of the building that will showcase a sunrise and early morning theme to complement the restaurant’s focus on breakfast.

“I’m glad I can bring bright colors to the town,” Leipprandt said. “(Murals) make people people happy.”

The murals should be finished by mid-October. Leipprandt said on average, each one takes around 10-12 days.
