History: If you’ve been out and about in Detroit over the past few years, chances are you’ve seen this talented and strong vocalist perform, or have been at an event that’s booked her to entertain. King has sang at Pride festivals, Detroit Tigers games and was named “Best R&B Female Artist” at the Detroit Black Music Awards. She was also the Detroit winner of “BET Apollo Live” and has been a warm-up act for everyone from Aretha Franklin to George Clinton.
The latest: This Saturday, King will sing at the newly reopened Michigan Central Station as part of their summer concert series. Catch her 12:30-2:30 p.m. Saturday outside the station on the front lawn of Newlab near 15th street and Dalzelle. Saturday night she’s booked as one of three artists performing a sold-out tribute to the Queen of Soul Franklin at a special location in Detroit that is known to ticketholders.
