Experience Maine through the eyes of 24 artists of the Plein Air Painters of Maine at an Artists’ Reception hosted by Historic New England in the historic Nickels-Sortwell House Barn on Thursday, July 25 from 4 to 6 p.m. This event is held in conjunction with the Wiscasset Art Walk.
This is a free, casual reception open to the public. On view and available for purchase are works by John Sawyer, Anthony Watkins, Diane Dubreil, Celia Ludwig, Jim Farnan, Deena Ball, Jorge Pena, Maryann Heinzen, Cassie Sano, Allison Donahue, Christine Aston, Wendy Ross, Mat O’Donnell, Penny Markley, Fran Scannell, Douglas Smith, Peggy Fitzgerald, Karin Strong, Valerie Thomas, Cali L. Veilleux, Wendy Bellows, Susan Tan, Stephan Gianinni and Beth Jordan. Take the opportunity to talk to the artists about their work and their differing perspectives on the built environment, iconic landscapes and special moments that could only happen in the state we call Maine.
The Nickels–Sortwell House Barn, at 121 Main St. in Wiscasset, is home to a gallery of over 40 examples of these artists’ work, all of which is for sale to the public. A portion of each sale goes to Historic New England to help maintain this unique historic house and barn.
