Artists take center stage in Redwood City with CZI exhibit launch

The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI) and the Redwood City Parks and Arts Foundation (RWCPAF) introduced their annual art exhibition, “Re-discover, Reimagine, and Revive,” on March 22 at the CZI Community Space, according to a news release from CZI.

This year’s exhibit focuses on diverse interpretations of its theme through various mediums, including digital art and wooden sculptures.

The exhibition, which explores different facets of rediscovery and reimagining, features the work of nine artists from San Mateo County. This selection, for the first time, includes two sculptors, introducing a three-dimensional aspect to the event.

“The exhibition also features artists from different generations, proving that creativity transcends time and age barriers,” said Estes.

The selected artworks explore varied themes, such as cultural affection shown through sliced oranges and new takes on ordinary objects like medicine cabinets in stained-glass art. This range seeks to initiate community discussions on art and expression, according to the release.

The selected works will be displayed in the CZI Community Space through spring 2025, with the artists being welcomed with a celebration and meet-and-greet event on the launch day.

Alma Pulido, community affairs program officer at CZI, said, “We invite community members to join us in celebrating the unique talents and life experiences of these artists, who are sharing with us a piece of their identities.”
