Bezerk Productions, based in Joshua Tree, has received a Creative Corps grant for the creation and production of a coloring book for adults, geared toward people who have mental health challenges.
The coloring book, “SEE, SEE, SEE, More! Listen With Your Eyes,” is to be designed by a team of 10 mentally different people who have some drawing experience. There are five on the team now, and Bezerk Productions is seeking five more artists to join, according to a news release.
The workshop site for the project is the Birdcage Comics Cafe in San Bernardino, and the program offers rides to and from the site, gift cards and cafe treats, according to the news release.
The project includes a series of classes taught by artists Georgeann Deen, Claudia Boucher, Erica Mosco, Jeff Pippin, Linda Sibio, Leslie Matamoros and Neil Doshi, running 3-5 p.m. Thursdays and Saturdays through March.
Sibio, the managing and lead artist of the coloring book project, is the founder and executive director of Bezerk Productions, a nonprofit organization. She has a show, “Economics of Suffering: Part IV,” running through Jan. 7 at the Craft Contemporary museum in Los Angeles, according to the news release.
Artists interested in joining the coloring book project may contact Sibio at 760-808-5326.
The coloring book will be available to the public in the spring, according to the news release.
