Bonham, Texas — The Creative Arts Center is pleased to announce a call for art for the centers annual Budding Artists Contest. This contest is open to Fannin County residents under the age of 18 as of April 1, 2024.
The contest will have two age categories, three artistic categories and offer cash prizes and ribbons. The Kids age group will include kids ages 12 and under. The Youth age group will include youth ages 13 and up.
The Painting Contest is sponsored by the Glaser Family Charitable Foundation, the Drawing Contest is sponsored by Bonham Chrysler and the Mix Media, Photography and Sculpture Contest is sponsored by Kay Carrel.
The Contest Judge is Carolyn Fauble. Fauble attended Western Illinois University and earned a BA in Art Education and an MA in Studio Painting. She retired to Fannin County after being an art teacher in Lewisville School District for thirty years. As a teacher, she was a jack of all trades teaching drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, printmaking, papermaking, batik and bookmaking. After retirement, she began concentrating on her painting, both watercolor and acrylic. She worked at developing a unique signature style and content….often spiritual, hopefully imaginative, and frequently mysterious.
The opening night reception will be come and go from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Friday, April 5 at the center. The awards ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. that evening. The public is encouraged to come to the center for this event and do a gallery hop and visit the Fannin County Childrens Center at 112 W. 5th in Bonham during that same time.
Artwork can be brought to the center during normal business hours between March 26 April 3.
Normal business hours are Tuesday Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to noon. The Center is located at 200 W. 5th in Bonham.
