MONROE—The Ward Roney Jr. VFW Post 7511 Veterans Art Council (VAC) is hosting a Call for Artists to populate its art gallery located at 125 E. Main St. #101 in the heart of downtown Monroe.
Intended as a vibrant addition to Monroe’s downtown landscape, the partially grant-funded gallery serves as Post Headquarters, a community hub, and a showcase for art created by both veteran and non-veteran artists. The VAC is actively seeking artists with existing works to populate the gallery. Both two-dimensional and three-dimensional artworks are eligible, including paintings, photography, drawings, sculpture, glass, ceramics, leatherwork, metalwork, fabric, and woodworking.
Please find the official Call for Artists for all the details plus the application form. The art submission deadline is Friday, July 19, 2024. All art selected for inclusion in the gallery shall be available for sale for the duration of its display. Once a piece of art is sold, the artist agrees to donate a portion of the proceeds to Post 7511 to help further its mission of service to veterans and the community.
While there is no specific theme, the VAC vision calls for artwork that is reflective of Monroe’s and the Sky Valley’s rich history, and/or art that demonstrates a connection to veterans, honors our nation’s heroes, reveres U.S. Military service, or expresses patriotism.
Veterans are encouraged to apply; however, veteran status is not required for art to be considered. Artists agree to display the artwork for a period of six months beginning August 4, 2024, committing the art through February 1, 2025. Extensions may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Please visit the digital Call for Artists or contact the VAC Director if you have any questions!
This program is supported, in part, by a grant from the Washington State Arts Commission.
