Dalí Museum to offer discounted admission on artist’s birthday

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Saturday marks the 120th birthday of surrealist artist Salvador Dalí, who passed away in 1989 at the age of 84.

To honor his life and work, the City of St. Petersburg will declare May 11 as “Salvador Dalí Day.” His eponymous museum will mark the occasion by offering discounted tickets to guests.

On Saturday, visitors will get 35% off Gallery Admission—$19.04 (Dalí’s birth year), compared to the usual $29. Kids under 12 get in free to both the museum and “Dalí Alive 360°”, an immersive add-on experience showcasing the artist’s works.

Guests can enjoy family-friendly activities in the Avant-Garden, take pictures in a “Dalí-inspired” photo booth and get a henna tattoo with “Dalínian designs.”

The museum’s Café Gala will have food and drink specials, including a 1904 salad and mustache-shaped latte art.

The museum will give away free tickets every hour on Saturday. Guests will also get free treats, a commemorative birthday card and a 50% off voucher for Tampa Bay Rays games, valid between May 20 and May 30. Those who spend $50 and more at the gift store will get a free tote bag.

The Dalí Museum, 1 Dalí Boulevard, is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday.

The museum is also celebrating Dalí’s birthday with extended hours (10 a.m. to 8 p.m.) every Thursday in May. There will be specialty Dalí-themed drinks and desserts at Café Gala, surreal games and more.
