Dogwood Arts brings 30 new sculptures to East Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Artwork from artists across 14 states will be showcased across Knoxville, Oak Ridge, Maryville, and Alcoa for Dogwood Arts‘ 2024-2025 Art In Public Places Sculpture Exhibition.

The installations began during the week of June 17 and will continue through Sunday, June 23. The exhibition includes 30 new sculptures chosen by Andrea Bailey with the Aslan Foundation and the Knoxville Public Art Committee. The outdoor sculpture program expanded in 2024 with new sculpture placements at Johnson Architecture in South Knoxville, the Knoxville Botanical Gardens in East Knoxville, and the Greenway in Maryville.

The majority of the sculptures can be found in Krutch Park with 13 new sculptures set to be installed between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on June 23. Market Street between Clinch and Union Avenues will be closed to allow room for sculptures that require a crane for installation.

Each year artists from across the country apply to be a part of the exhibition. The chosen artists are then paid by Dogwood Arts to ‘lease’ their sculpture for one year. This year’s exhibition includes artists from Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina:
