Fountain Hills Artists’ Gallery hosts Leslie Kiefus

The community is invited to the next Fountain Hills Artists’ Gallery’s weekly demonstration on Tuesday, March 26, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The featured artist for this event is Ceramicist Leslie Kiefus who says a careful consideration of how everything works from electronics, economics, medicine and machines has long been her focus.

After a career as a biomedical engineer and time well spent as a parent, Kiefus continues to engage with this lifelong curiosity, but now on her own terms as an artist, according to a press release.

After taking a ceramics class in 2010, Kiefus was hooked, she said.

“Clay is a wonderful medium: forgiving, therapeutic, and magically transformed by heat and glaze,” Kiefus said.

Each of her pieces is comprised of several parts and final assembly is often challenging, the release added.

Kiefus says the entire process from working with raw clay to installing finished pieces in customers’ homes to be totally fulfilling and more than a bit addictive.

The gallery is located at 16858 E. Avenue of the Fountains and is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
