MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – The amazing forecast was certainly a driving force behind the crowds Friday night in downtown Pensacola. It’s a night to connect and engage with local artists.
“Tonight — I love that music. The music is really, really good! That’s mostly what I like about it and the people come by and they start walking and they look at my booth — and go — that’s the brightest booth I’ve ever seen! So, I get a rush out of it,” said Just Dahl, local artist.
Gallery Night in downtown Pensacola showcases the arts, the food, and live music.
“Playing for the family crowd is the best. Just being a part of the culture and atmosphere — I’m glad to be part of it. I watched it build up to all this,” said musician Dano.
Band “Blossomin’ Bone” on the road — played a gig last night in Apalachicola — and decided to swing by Gallery Night before heading to New Orleans.
“We always heard that Gallery Night was really poppin and we pulled into town to try and get a bus going and try to make some gas money and get down the road,” said Bobby Hill, Blossomin’ Bone.
“We like performing in the street because you never really know what you’re going to see or who you are going to meet and it’s kind of on your own terms. You get to know when you start, when you quit, and mess around. It’s a lot less pressure — and a lot more fun,” said Rynie Hill, Blossomin’ Bone.
Palafox Street was sprinkled with vendors.
“It’s a great way to display your talents — display your art — also get involved with the local community… And enjoy the festivities while doing what you love to do. People love the art and we love people,” said Rhoan Brown, Sandy Beach Inspirations.
FOX 10 News was also on the scene with the FOX 10 StormTracker — of course there were no weather complaints!
“This is the first time we’ve been here. We are going to a Wahoos game tonight! Go Wahoos!!! Lee: So you guys are making a night of it? — Oh yes,” said one couple.
“This is awesome. We were just driving around and we were going to come somewhere here to eat and we just came up right here and everything was blocked off — it’s a cool spot. Lee: What about the weather? — Absolutely beautiful,” said one man visiting from Atlanta for a wedding.
Gallery Night is the third Friday of every month.
