It didn’t take long for Latto to catch wind of the critical tweet. “Y’all be getting besides y’all self,” she said in response. “Shawty from the Southside and she hard [as f**k]. I don’t care ’bout [all that]. I was an ‘unknown artist’ before and [motherf**kers] acted too big for me. Stream when we drop.”
In 2022, Latto liberated her sophomore studio LP, 777, a 13-song offering with notable assists from 21 Savage, Lil Wayne, Childish Gambino, Lil Durk, Nardo Wick, and Kodak Black. The project debuted within the top 20 of the Billboard 200. Since then, Latto maintained her momentum via loose cuts like “P**SY,” “FTCU” with GloRilla and Gangsta Boo, “Another Nasty Song,” “Smoking on My Ex Pack (Freestyle),” and “Put It On Da Floor,” the last of which spawned a remix with Cardi B. In addition to BabyDrill and Luh Tyler, she contributed to songs by the likes of Trina, Nardo Wick, Digga D, Saucy Santana, Jung Kook, and DJ Khaled.
