STANTON, Tenn. — A new sculpture was dedicated to growth, sustainability and community at the site of a nearby factory.
Ford’s BlueOval City alongside the University of Memphis Department of Art and Design dedicated a steel sculpture to the local community.
Construction of the plant in Stanton is still ongoing, with millions of tons of materials brought to the area for the factory.
Dan Brady, director of EV sales and retail marketing for Ford Motor Company, says more jobs are expected to come to the area.
“We have announced thousands. We haven’t released wages yet, but we have announced thousands of jobs expected to be here at our facility and the other employers on site,” said Brady.
The steel structure is blue and grey, the colors the Ford Motor Company dons on their iconic logo. It is 28 feet tall and comprised of six canopies.
The symbols cut out of each leaf have meanings, most of which tie into the area the factory is located. Brady has not said when production will begin.
“We’re not giving a lot of details. We haven’t launched or announced the product yet or revealed it so that’s still exciting news ahead of us,” said Brady.
The factory, when finished, will cover 10.8 million square feet, the equivalent of almost 200 football fields. There are 18 different symbols that appear on the leaves of the sculpture.
