LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) — The Lynchburg Art Club is set to host its 51st Annual Lynchburg Art Festival on Saturday, September 21, on the grounds of E.C. Glass High School.
More than 100 artists from across the Commonwealth will be displaying and selling their art, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a wide range of mediums showcased, including watercolor, oil, pastels, encaustic, sculpture, drawing, acrylic, mixed media and photography.
Participating artists will be competing for $7,000 in awards sponsored by the community and local businesses. The judge for 2024 will be Janly Jaggard; Jaggard was born in Suffolk, England and received an art and design degree from West of England College in Bristol. She currently lives in the Shenandoah Valley, where she teaches drawing, painting, and vitreous enamel at Beverley Street Studio School. Jaggard’s work has been extensively collected and showcased around the world.

The festival will also include an exhibit to highlight the talents of area high school students, with cash prizes. Brooke Marcy – an art professor and steward of the Daura Museum at University of Lynchburg – will judge the student show.
A portion of the proceeds from the festival goes toward the Shirley D. Hobbs Scholarship Fund, which provides support each year for an area high school senior who is interested in obtaining an art degree.
The rain date for the art festival is set for Sunday, September 22, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
