People’s music preferences for the bedroom might have you scratching your head.
ZipLine, an online doctors service, released a study ranking the most popular music artists for people to get down to while having sex, and I’ll be honest, it raises more questions than it answers.
Sorry, let me be a little more specific. The list doesn’t make sense at all. Not even a little bit.
The top 10 artists are as follows:
- The Weeknd
- Kanye West
- Deftones
- Drake
- Lana Del Rey
- Kendrick Lamar
- Tyler, the Creator
- Rihanna
- Taylor Swift
- Doja Cat
Ranking of most-popular music artists for sex is jarring.
What an absolutely wild and unexpected top 10 list. The only singers I’m not surprised are on that list are Lana Del Rey and Rihanna.
Who the hell is listening to Kanye West? I can’t name a single Tyler, the Creator song, but I know his music isn’t meant for that kind of adult activity.
Doja Cat? Seriously, what the hell is going on with some people? Isn’t Kendrick Lamar doing rap beefs? I don’t think he’s exactly writing love tunes.
To make matters even more surprising, three songs from The Weeknd – “The Hills,” “Often” and “Call Out My Name” – were in the top four for songs on sex playlists. Nicki Minaj’s “Super Freaky Girl” took the top spot.
I feel very out of touch with the current culture and climate. Where is the upbeat rock? Where is the party country? I would burst out laughing if a woman put on Drake or Kendrick Lamar.
Am I just an old man yelling at clouds? Perhaps, but I’ve never felt more disconnected from the current vibe than I do right now.
Taylor Swift makes sense just because she’s unbelievably popular that it would have been borderline statistically impossible for her to not be included.
I’ll also break it down one step further. Lana Del Rey being fifth is actually way lower than I would have expected. For those of you who might not be familiar with her music, it’s like a drug for upper middle class white women who want to pretend to have daddy issues. She started becoming very popular when I was in college.
There was an overnight vibe shift, and it wasn’t a bad thing. Do not think I’m criticizing her or her music. I’m not. I’m definitely here for some of it. I’m just pointing out that female Lana Del Rey fans are among the more interesting and fun people out there.
If you’ve ever dated a serious Lana Del Rey fan, then you know exactly what I’m talking about. I’ve walked that path more than once in life in my younger years, and let me tell you, it’s certainly an interesting experience.
She has some of the most sexually-charged music you’ll ever hear, but not in a graphic way like rap. It’s hard to explain. You just kind of have to hear it.
