New Orleans artists, businesses given Super Bowl LIX opportunity


NEWS. ALL RIGHT, YOU HEARD SHAY SAY THE CRIME IS TRENDING DOWN. NOW. THE COUNTDOWN IS ON, AND EXACTLY 177 DAYS. NEW ORLEANS WILL HOST THE SUPER BOWL AND WELCOMES SCORES OF FOOTBALL FANS TO SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA. AND AS THE CITY PREPARES RIGHT NOW TO PLAY HOST, THERE IS NOW A NEW CALL OUT TO LOCAL ARTISTS AND BUSINESSES TO GET INVOLVED. WDSU REPORTER ELIZABETH KUEBEL IS LIVE WITH THE INITIATIVE JUST ANNOUNCED TO HELP PUT LOCALS IN THE GLOBAL SPOTLIGHT. ELIZABETH AND TRAVERS. THAT ANNOUNCEMENT WAS MADE HERE AT THE ASHÉ CULTURAL ARTS CENTER, WHICH IS FITTING SINCE LEADERS ARE NOW WORKING TO SPOTLIGHT OUR CITY’S CULTURE ON THE NATIONAL STAGE. BY SHARING THESE SOUNDS AND SIGHTS OF NEW ORLEANS IS NOW THE MISSION BEHIND A BRAND NEW INITIATIVE JUST ANNOUNCED BY THE OFFICE OF CULTURAL ECONOMY. WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT OUR TALENT IS SHOWN AND SEEN AND EXPOSED THROUGHOUT THE WORLD. THAT REPRESENT THE NATION. THAT IS WHY THE CULTURAL ECONOMY OFFICE IS NOW LAUNCHING A DIRECTORY, WANTING YOUR CORRECT INFORMATION. IF YOU ARE A LOCAL TALENT TO HELP MAKE SURE YOUR WORK CAN BE CONSIDERED AND SPOTLIGHTED DURING SUPER BOWL EVENTS. FROM MUSIC TO COSMETOLOGY TO COOKING, SOME ORIGINAL MUSIC. I’M UNDERSTANDING THAT THERE’S AT LEAST 300 PLUS SANCTIONED EVENTS THAT ARE DIRECTLY RELATED TO NFL. THAT’S GOING TO TAKE PLACE THAT’S OUTSIDE OF OTHER CELEBRITIES COMING IN, AND SAYING, HEY, I’M LOOKING FOR A CHEF TO CURATE MY EVENT THAT’S TAKING PLACE AT THIS VENUE. SO WE’RE LOOKING AT I KNOW I WOULD SAY AT LEAST THOUSANDS THAT WOULD BE EMPLOYED. IT COMES AS WE HEAR AN UPDATE ON PREPS FROM THE DIRECTOR, WHO ALSO SERVES ON THE HOSPITALITY AND SPECIAL EVENTS COMMITTEE FOR THE SUPER BOWL. SHE SAYS NEW ORLEANS IS ON TRACK TO HOST THE BIG GAME IN LESS THAN SIX MONTHS. THESE MEETINGS ARE TAKING PLACE WEEKLY TO ENSURE THAT WE’RE ON SCHEDULE FROM AN INFRASTRUCTURE, ENTERTAINMENT, HOSPITALITY, TRANSPORTATION, FIRST RESPONDERS. WE ARE READY AND PREPARED AND WORKING COLLECTIVELY TO DO SO. AND AS THAT WORK CONTINUES BEHIND THE SCENES. ARTISTS LIKE THESE TWO ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE CENTER STAGE BY US DOING IT AS WE’VE BEEN DOING IT FOR CENTURIES AND CENTURIES UPON CENTURIES. New Orleans businesses, artists encouraged to apply for Super Bowl LIX opportunities

New Orleans artists and businesses have an opportunity to participate in official Super Bowl LIX events. The Mayor’s Office of Cultural Economy announced the opportunity during a news conference Friday afternoon.Artists and businesses interested need to fill out a Call for Interest form, which will be added to the Cultural Economy Directory. This information will then be shared with the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation, Super Bowl leadership and NFL-affiliated stakeholders.This gives artists and businesses a chance to be involved in events leading up to the game, such as the NFL Experience, NFL Honors, Host Committee events, pre-game activities, Super Bowl perimeter activities and more. The call for interest is open to individuals in a range of artistic disciplines, including traditional cultural artists, brass bands, amplified bands, youth bands (including high school and college), visual artists, gospel/spiritual artists, culinary professionals, movement artists, DJs, emcees, photographers and videographers, film industry vendors, designers (fashion, graphic, floats), event managers, writers and publishers, tour guides, makeup artists, hair stylists and barbers.A link to the Call for Interest form can be found here. The Call for Interest form will remain open as long as opportunities are available; however, primary consideration will be given to those who submit their information by Aug. 28, according to the city.
