Billie Eilish, one of the biggest current pop artists in the U.S., has received a Sailor Moon art book signed by original franchise creator Naoko Takeuchi following her recent appearance in Japan. Elish also received original artwork drawn by the creator of Attack on Titan, Hajime Isayama.
On a recent episode of the Japanese TV series Newscaster: Joho 7 Days, major music star Billie Eilish received special manga memorabilia from Sailor Moon‘s Naoko Takeuchi and Attack on Titan‘s Hajime Isayama. Via X (formerly Twitter), Eilish was pictured with an autographed copy of Sailor Moon: Raisonne Art Works (1991-2023). That joined Attack on Titan creator Hajime Isayama’s original artwork of Eilish in the series’ own style, holding the ODM Gear’s grapple hook and dressed in military uniform. She stands next to Eren, Mikasa and Armin and is flanked by the Titan that sparked the manga series into motion almost 15 years ago. Readers can check out both images below.

Billie Eilish Receives Gifts From Sailor Moon’s Naoko Takeuchi and Attack on Titan’s Hajime Isayama
Billie Eilish Is Known for Her Anime Fandom, Including a Song Based on Studio Ghibli’s Spirited Away
Both pieces of artwork were autographed on June 18, specifically for Eilish’s slated appearance. The Sailor Moon: Raisonne Art Works (1991-2023) recounts over 30 years of Takeuchi’s career across 200 pages and 700 illustrations. Curious details of Isayama’s gift include his signature, which features a chibi-fied Mikasa wearing Eren’s scarf. His message reads, “To Billie Eilish-san, congrats on your new album release!!” Eilish’s latest album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, was released to widespread acclaim on May 17, 2024. One of its lead singles, “Chihiro,” is loosely based on Studio Ghibli’s Spirited Away, in which Chihiro is its lead character. Talking to Rolling Stone, Eilish has described it as “one of her favorites,” adding, “The visuals in that movie are some of the best ever.”
Eilish’s anime fandom is well-documented. In 2022, she caught the attention of Fire Force creator Atsushi Ohkubo for her manga-inspired outfit featuring Tamaki. “Billie Eilish’s clothes have Tamaki on them LOL,” he said, “[Seeing it] I went, ‘It’s Billie Eilish!’ with a start.” She also wore an Attack on Titan outfit in 2021, reading ‘Problem Corps’ on its front with Eren, Levi and Mikasa also pictured. Other recent crossovers between U.S. artists and their manga fandom include Megan Thee Stallion’s cosplay of One Piece‘s Boa Hancock just last month.
