OKLAHOMA – The Visual Arts Coalition (OVAC) is excited to announce the opening of applications for Thrive Grants, an esteemed annual granting program for artists that celebrates innovation and exploration in the visual arts of Oklahoma. Thrive Grants, funded by and in partnership with the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts through their Regional Regranting Program, aims to empower artists to bring their visions to life and engage communities across the state in unique ways.
This year, Thrive Grants will award a total of $60,000 to fund multiple artist-led, collaborative projects from across Oklahoma through grants of $5,000 or $10,000 each. These projects must culminate in a public-facing program, such as a non-traditional exhibition, performance, screening, or other publicly accessible outcome, whether in person or virtual. Thrive Grants are dedicated to supporting artists’ visions and providing creative projects for community engagement.
Ariana Weir, OVAC Administrative and Artist Relations Manager, expressed excitement about the program, stating, “We are thrilled to open applications for Thrive Grants for the fourth year and continue to support innovative visual arts projects that engage communities across the state of Oklahoma in unique ways.”
Thrive Grant applications are open until June 1st, 2024 at 11:59 PM and can be found on the Thrive website (thrivegrants.org). An Informational Webinar is scheduled for April 16th. Applications will be evaluated by a panel of artists and arts administrators based on artistic merit, career-altering potential, and community impact. Priority consideration will be given to projects serving under-represented areas of Oklahoma, featuring BIPOC collaborators, and engaging with the community they serve.
