Painting with a Twist, an art studio in North Olmsted, offers easy-to-follow painting classes from in-house artists.
The studio offers hands-on interactive classes as well as pop-in hours where patrons can paint at their own speed in a casual setting.

North Olmsted’s location at 25102 Brookpark Road No. 116 has nine in-house instructors, including manager April Fredrick.
“Everybody that works here is an artist,” Frederick said. “Everybody that’s worked here, either went to art school, had some sort of art training or is naturally gifted.”
The studios are nationwide, and customers can choose to paint a creation from Painting with a Twist’s gallery, which has over 1,000 paintings.
“Anybody that works for Painting with a Twist, which is a nationwide company, can submit art that will be potentially eligible to teach at different locations,” Frederick said.

Patrons can choose to recreate images like the Cleveland skyline or whimsical cartoons, she said.
Painting with a Twist’s UV dark room can show what paintings look like under a black light, Frederick said.
The studio holds events like birthday parties, company retreats and bridal showers.
Painting with a Twist allows customers to bring their own beverages to match the relaxing setting.

Frederick said working at the studio does not feel like work.
“I had a desk job for 15 years working in an office, and that felt like work,” she said. “The day goes by so fast because I’m doing what I love, which is art.”
The studio’s classes are not solely focused on painting, Frederick said.
Instructors offer candle-, blanket- and jewelry-making workshops, she said.
Customers come in to get away from the outside world, Frederick said.
“I think our classes are a combination of art therapy and a little bit of getting lost in something as a distraction,” she said. “It takes your mind off something you want to take your mind off of, and you get a serotonin boost at the end when you see the end result of whatever you’re making.”
