People’s Artist of Russia, actor of the Nizhny Novgorod Theater of Young Spectators Leonid Remnev died suddenly at the age of 79. The Youth Theater informs about this on its page in social networks.
In Gorky, and then in the Nizhny Novgorod Youth Theater, he worked since 1972, and gave the stage 52 years of his life.
“During the performance of “Vassa” he became ill, the ambulance that arrived at the theater did not have time to save him, ” the account of the Nizhny Novgorod branch of the Union of Theater Workers clarifies.
Leonid Remnev was born in 1946 in the Ivanovo region. He graduated from the Gorky (Nizhny Novgorod) Theater School in 1972, and then from the History Department of the Nizhny Novgorod State University named after N. I. Lobachevsky. From 1978 to 2003, he himself was a teacher at the Gorky/Nizhny Novgorod Theater School. During his stage career, he has played more than 100 roles in plays of Russian and foreign classical repertoire, as well as contemporary authors.
“The artist Leonid Yakovlevich Remnev has always been distinguished by intelligence, nobility, inner explosive temperament and emotionality and erudition. The theater mourns and expresses condolences to the family and friends of Leonid Yakovlevich, ” the theater said in a statement.
The artist is a nominee of the Golden Mask National Award, a laureate of the Pushkin Prize and the Sobolshchikov-Samarin Prize.
