PHOTOS: Beautiful weather shines on artistic talent at Lansdale Festival of the Arts

Lisa Pearsall could not have asked for more picturesque weather on Saturday to complement the annual Lansdale Festival of the Arts in Memorial Park on Saturday.

“Everything is great — the weather is beautiful, the artists are all here and it’s an inter-generational event,” said the borough Parks & Recreation specialist who organized this year’s event.

All in all, 65 vendors of various mediums showcased their wares across a sunny Memorial Park, as the Eric Mintel Quartet painted the park with music. Pearsall said it was the same amount as last year, but there is expansion in the works.

“I want to add more vendors; we had a lot of interest this year, and I wasn’t able to accommodate them,” Pearsall said, adding it was her inaugural planning year with the retirement of Joanne Grubb.

One vendor, Dan Eby, of Lansdale, was running his scroll saw wood art of Ebydo Handmade Creations.

“I take my pattern, glue it to my wood area, drill holes, feed my blade through each and every spot I need to do, so it can take hours upon hours for some of these,” he said. “Average time is two to three hours per piece.”

Eby said he took part in the Festival for the first time because he is local, his children attend North Penn, and he wanted to show off what he does for a living.

“I’d say we have about 20 new artists this year. We do have a lot of people that have been doing this festival for years,” Pearsall said. “We draw a huge crowd, we have a beautiful venue for it — it’s awesome.”

Pearsall was happy the weather held out for the event.

“We have grandparents to newborn babies here,” she said.

While the event may mark the end of summer in Lansdale, it does not mark the end of fun in Lansdale.

Pearsall said there is a “Spook-tacular Soiree” in October and all the upcoming winter holiday events.

“The events never end in Lansdale,” she said “This was one last hurrah before the kids head back into school.”
