BELCHER/SAREPTA, La. (KSLA) – The Shreveport Regional Arts Council (SRAC) is calling on artists to design gateway signage along the Boom or Bust Byway in northwest Louisiana.
These large road signs, which are in place from Vivian all the way to Lake Claiborne, will feature iconic imagery for the towns they represent. Seven signs have already been submitted from a call for artists in the past, but two additional signs are needed for the towns of Sarepta and Belcher.

The reason for the gateway signs is to encourage travelers to take the Boom or Bust Byway for a spin through beautiful northwest Louisiana. The signs will also motivate travelers to explore the treasures of Sarepta and Belcher.
Each artist’s design must identify each site with one of the listed themes:

- Christmas Festival
- hunting at Bodcau Wildlife Management Area
- Bayou Dorcheat and Bodcau Dam (ex: fishing, hiking, camping, kayaking, etc.)
- Trace Adkins
- Muddy Bottoms ATV & Recreation Park
BELCHER
- historic churches
- patriotism
- agriculture
- Caddo Indians
- cotton
The competition is open to all artists on the Northwest Louisiana Culturalyst Directory at the time of submission. Deadline for submissions is 4 p.m., Friday, July 12. Designs for signage will be accepted through Submittable.com.
