Two Artists, One Main Street

East End artists Adriana Barone and Kryn Olson began painting together last summer. Something magical began to happened as they found themselves unbelievably in sync on so many levels. Both women brought the life experience to the work— Olson’s background as a science educator and Barone’s years of being in the downtown art scene in the 1980s. They were driven to paint, actually painting on the canvases at the same time.

In a collaboration they call “KOBA,” their ideals collided into an explosion of color and inner detail — spilling out of the relationship between plants and people. Using spray paint and graffiti, they use flowers as symbols and iconic references of pop culture, subway art and botanicals, revealing the life inside.

It is very unusual to have two galleries featuring the works of the same artists at the same time in the same village, but that what’s happening in Sag Harbor this spring. The show, “I’ll Need a Pumpkin and a Few Mice” will open on Saturday, April 13, from 5 to 7 p.m. at both Sara Nightingale Gallery, 26 Main Street, Sag Harbor, and across the street at Romany Kramoris Gallery, 41 Main Street, Sag Harbor.
