EAST LIVERPOOL – Artists often find they don’t have nearly enough time for painting, drawing or even sketching. Everyday responsibilities often take precedence over the easel.

But some East Liverpool businesses are coming together to provide an opportunity for creative escape.

A weekend Artist Retreat is going to be headquartered at The Sturgis House Bed and Breakfast Aug. 16 through the 18. The event is being led by local artist Sheri Liebschner (sheriliebschner.com) and will include group painting sessions, morning yoga classes with professional instructor Amy McCormack, an afternoon painting session with nationally recognized artist Christopher Leeper (christopherleeper.com) and tours of the Museum of Ceramics and the Upper Ohio Valley Museum and Learning Center at the Lou Holtz Hall of Fame.

Artists may participate in all or part of the activities being offered or they may choose to work on their own painting the interesting East Liverpool architecture or setting up an easel along the Ohio River. Studio space will also be available for a portion of the weekend at the Museum of Ceramics during regular business hours.

Participants may enjoy shopping downtown while not creating – the Pear Tree Shop is generously offering a 10% discount on all purchases. Fresh on Fifth is also offering artists a 10% discount and Chef Ray’s Diamond Bar and Grill is providing space for Chris Leeper’s painting session. Participants may choose to stay for the weekend at The Sturgis House or may just attend during the day.

More information and online registration is available through Eventbrite https://www.eventbrite.com/e/922946757597?aff=oddtdtcreator. Those interested can also contact Liebschner at 330-708-3230 or sheriliebschner@gmail.com.
