MARIETTA – A special pop-up event featuring the work of a West Virginia Artist will be held from noon-4 p.m. Saturday at a Marietta shop.
Clutch Collective, an art retail shop in downtown Marietta, will host illustrator Logan Schmitt during Marietta Main Street’s Shop Hop event.
A native of Wheeling, Schmitt’s fascination with nature and the small places of the forest are present in his work and are a source of inspiration. Stylistically, he uses lines and flat colors to present animals and other natural elements in an otherworldly light.
Logan has illustrated band posters, T-shirts and other work for clients such as The Avett Brothers, Grateful Dead and Caamp, among others.
Schmitt is partnering with a few shops in the region this month to host pop-up events.

“I spend a lot of my time at a desk so it’s really nice to change things up and meet people in person and see folks react in real time to my work,” Schmitt said. “Doing these pop ups is a great way to see a new town and visit the spots that sell my work, like Clutch Collective! We always try a local restaurant or bakery when we do these things and try to explore a little bit.”
Clutch Collective has stocked Schmitt’s prints since the shop opened in November 2021 and before then, his work was found in Wit & Whimzy.
“We are thrilled to host Logan in Marietta,” said Sarah Arnold, Clutch Collective owner. “His style is uniquely his and resonates with so many people. We know he has many fans here in Marietta who will enjoy the opportunity to meet him in person!”
In addition to work on display in the shop, Schmitt will have new prints and stickers.
“I get so much of my inspiration from nature and the Appalachian wilderness and it’s been that way for years. It feels like a long slow progression to me. I just want to keep getting better at drawing and presenting wildlife the way that I want,” Schmitt said. “I will say I’ve been working on a long term project that delves a little more into classic fantasy, so I’m excited to draw some swords and maces.”
Clutch Collective features a curated collection of art prints, stickers, greeting cards, original ceramics, handmade jewelry and more from more than 50 artists from Appalachia, the Midwest and other areas.
