Winnipeg-based Christian artist Carine Bado is gearing up to perform alongside some of the biggest names in Christian music at a free family festival in Manitoba.
This year’s Fun With Family Day Festival takes place at Our Farm Greenhouse near Portage la Prairie on September 1. After a summer of reflection and rest, Bado says she is excited to join the lineup of artists, including Brooke Nicholls and Jordan St. Cyr, in a celebration of faith, family, and music. Rend Collective will be headlining the event.
“It’s been a great summer, but also a challenging year,” Bado told CHVN in an interview. “I lost my mom back in March, so it’s just been a lot. But I’m very blessed to have been able to take a break this summer.”
Bado spent time in Portugal and Spain, visiting several cities and finding time to rest and recharge. “It was really important to unplug and take that time,” she said.
Looking ahead, Bado is excited about her upcoming performance at the Fun With Family Day Festival. The event, known for its family-friendly atmosphere, will feature a lineup of Christian artists, including Bado, who is eager to take the stage.
“I’m very excited about playing with the family fun this year,” Bado said. “It’s an honour to share the stage with such great local artists who have made it internationally,” referring to Jordan St. Cyr, who now lives in Nashville and has had several songs appear on the Billboard charts.
Bado first attended the festival as a parent three years ago, and now, she looks forward to performing and connecting with other artists like Brooke Nicholls and Jordan St. Cyr, whom she has yet to meet in person.
While Bado has been taking time off from releasing new music, she continues to find comfort and creativity in songwriting. “I feel obviously you know as Christian when we go through grief, when we go through trials it it’s an opportunity to always go to Jesus, right and I and I think,” she said, reflecting on how her faith has guided her through this time.
As she navigates this time of rest and creativity, Bado hopes that her music, born from a season of lament and grief, will resonate with others and contribute to her healing journey.
As the name of the festival suggests, the day is is a fun-filled one for the entire family with activities for all ages, including bouncy castles, face painting, food trucks, and much more.
This year’s headliner, Rend Collective, will join other Christian artists for a worshipful and entertaining experience. The festival kicks off with a church service and continues with performances from artists like Brooke Nicholls, Jordan St. Cyr, and Carine Bado herself.
Bado encourages everyone to come out and enjoy the day. “I used to go every year with my son, whether or not I sang. This time, I’m just blessed to be on the stage,” she said.
