The Creative Europe programme achieves growing success in Malta

The Creative Europe programme, which provides funding to artists and cultural entities, is gaining increasing success in Malta. This follows the European Commission’s publication of the results of several calls.

In the European Cooperation Projects call, where local entities or artists collaborate with other European artists to create joint projects, there was a significant number of applications. Out of these, more than 20 were selected to implement their projects.

Another call that is proving to be successful among Maltese artists is the Culture Moves Europe. This initiative offers emerging artists the opportunity to travel to other European countries and engage in experience exchanges in their chosen artistic field, such as dance, music, literature, fashion design, and other creative disciplines.

Some beneficiaries who benefitted from the Creative Europe Funding include: Inizjamed, Voca Choir, Migrant Women Association Malta and the National Archives of Malta.

The programme, which will continue until 2027 with an allocated budget of €2.44 billion, is growing in popularity and attracting more interest among Maltese artists and cultural entities. Anyone with an original, innovative idea that reflects the cultural sector can easily apply for these funds. Eligible applicants include NGOs, entities, Local Councils, private organizations, schools, self-employed, and many more.
