Janet M. Lang | News, Sports, Jobs




Janet M. Lang, 70, passed away on November 6, 2023, following a long battle with Early Onset Alzheimer’s Disease. She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Timothy Kelley, their three children, Tessa Lac, her husband Lawrence of Montclair, NJ, Colin Kelley and his wife Aurora Vasil of Jersey City, NJ and Anna Kelley of Nashua as well as grandchildren Vera and Dean Lac. Janet is also survived by her three brothers, Rogers Lang and his wife Faye of Manchester, Robert Lang of Manchester and Thomas Lang and his wife Diana of Londonderry as well as many nieces, nephews and in-laws.

Janet was a talented potter, teacher and artist. She was born in Manchester, NH, predeceased by her parents, Roger and Teresa Lang and was a resident of Brookline, NH for the past 43 years. She graduated from Trinity High School in Manchester, attended the University of New Hampshire and graduated cum laude from Fitchburg State University with a degree in Special Education. After teaching in Rutland, VT and Amherst, NH. Following the birth of her children, Janet pursued a career as a potter, earned a certification in art education and joined the staff at Nashua High School South as an art teacher for 12 years.

Janet was a patient and loving mother who bestowed on her children a love of traveling, an appreciation for reading and a strong sense of social justice. Janet was an enthusiastic traveler, as a young woman, she took a year off from her college studies and traveled solo through Europe. She later camped with her family while traveling across the US, Canada and Europe. In recent years Janet and her husband enjoyed bicycling and hiking together throughout Europe. Janet was a vociferous reader of fiction, poetry and philosophy. She consumed the New York Times Book Review each Sunday and was a member of the “Lit Wits” book club for 25 years. Her other interests included gardening, knitting and running. Janet was a beautiful and kind soul with a wonderful sense of humor and was adored by her husband, children, brothers, family and friends.

Janet’s family is eternally grateful for the support of family and friends and the care that she received at Hillsborough County Nursing Home over the course of her illness.

SERVICES: Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH 03055. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November

11, 2023, at 10:00 AM in the St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 708 Milford Road, Merrimack, NH. Burial will be private in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Brookline, NH.

In lieu of flowers donations in Janet’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org) or Hillsborough County Nursing Home, ATTN: Unit B2, 400 Mast Road, Goffstown, NH 03045.
