The 21st edition of the MarediModa trade show, held on November 7-9 at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France, recorded visitor numbers on par with its previous edition, and showcased roughly the same number of exhibitors. More buyers from the USA, Latin America and northern Europe than in past editions visited the show. Over 110 European exhibitors presented their summer 2025 collections of fabrics and accessories for premium beachwear, lingerie and athleisure.
“At a time of profound transformation for the international trade fair system, we confirmed our standing as the benchmark event for the high-end swimwear, underwear and athleisure sectors, with increasingly high-quality exhibitors as a result of our extremely stringent selection policy,” said Claudio Taiana, president of MarediModa, in a press release. “We believe that this set-up represents the future of textile shows, safeguarding creativity and supply chain traceability. In these 21 years we have become a trusted brand for our visitors, having organised important missions all over the world to promote a certain way of running trade fairs,” he added.
The Lycra Company, a world leader in innovative, sustainable fibre and technology solutions for the textile and apparel industry, was once again the official partner of MarediModa. In a European first, the Delaware-based company presented two new fibres, Adaptiv Black and Adaptiv Xtra-life, which combine the original fibre’s benefits with the additional features of two proprietary technologies to deliver a premium user experience.
Alistair Williamson, vice-president EMEA & South Asia Apparel at The Lycra Company, talked about the new fibres and other topics in a speech and later at a press conference. He shared the company’s future goals with guests and the media, providing updates on The Lycra Company’s ‘Planet Agenda’ sustainability programme and on the company’s ongoing commitment to promoting an increasingly sustainable supply chain.
Italian fabric producers Carvico and Jersey Lomellina held a successful evening event in collaboration with The Lycra Company, staging a live show and unveiling their new brand identities, revamped corporate image, and their repositioning and rebranding strategies. The show, featuring both physical and virtual elements, emphasised the common roots of Carvico and Jersey Lomellina, as well as their shared link with Lycra’s fibres and product innovations. The new fabric collections by Carvico and Jersey Lomellina both feature The Lycra Company’s latest technology.
The key summer 2025 trends, which were highlighted in the show’s trend area, were presented by David Shah in his customary engaging fashion. MarediModa showcased a number of young creatives at the award ceremony and runway show for The Link, a competition won by fashion students Monika Luczak (from the Strzeminski Academy of Fine Art in Lodz, Poland) for the Underwear category, Iulia Anton (from the University of Art and Design in Cluj Napoca, Romania) for the Athleisure category, and Laurine Achoui (from LISAA Paris Mode, France) for the Beachwear category. MarediModa also featured exhibitions, installations and digital tools developed to inspire designers, including Athleisyou and Flash!, a project created in collaboration with ISGMD.
