About Jennifer Villar Polanco
Hi! My name is Jennifer Luisa Villar Polanco and I am a Graphic Designer from Boston. I love typography and color theory. I enjoy challenging myself in every way possible as well as learning new things with every experience. Lastly, I try to incorporate my culture and where I came from in every design, that way I bring another perspective and point of view to each project.
Statement
This project is very personal and important to me. As a Dominican, I experience these stereotypes almost daily in the United States. I feel like I am forced to fit into certain standards in order to be considered Dominican. Me, along with many other Dominicans, are discriminated against and are criticized based on our skin color.
With this project, the goal is to inform others and reduce the ignorance among Americans. I wanted to create awareness about certain stereotypes that not only affect Dominicans, but also other Latinxs who struggle with this.
